DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?
There may be parts of you that feel steady, capable, and able to manage the demands of everyday life. At the same time, other parts may feel anxious, reactive, uncertain, or quietly overwhelmed. You might find yourself replaying conversations long after they’ve ended, questioning your decisions, or struggling to set boundaries without feeling guilty. You may also notice patterns in relationships repeating, even when you genuinely want something different.
From the outside, you may appear high-functioning and put together. But internally, your experience may feel more complex and layered.
At Hidden Garden Therapy, I offer a space where those layers can be explored with care, curiosity, and intention.
Therapy can be an opportunity to gently attend to the parts of yourself that have been overlooked, strengthen areas that feel fragile, and cultivate meaningful and lasting growth. I invite you to begin a path toward greater self-understanding, clarity, and meaningful change.
About Ana
I am a licensed mental health counselor based in New York, providing telehealth therapy for adults and couples.
I became a therapist because I have always been drawn to understanding how people heal, grow, and create meaning — especially during times of transition, uncertainty, and internal struggle.
I grew up in Montenegro, a small Balkan country, before immigrating to the United States. Adjusting to a new culture and way of life came with many challenges. In my early 20s, I experienced anxiety firsthand and made a conscious decision to approach it with curiosity rather than avoidance.
That choice marked the beginning of my own healing journey.
Through that process, I experienced how transformative it can be to understand your internal world rather than fear it. That experience inspired me to study psychology and pursue a path that would help others make sense of their struggles and reclaim their sense of agency.
I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mental Health Counseling from The City College of New York, completing my graduate training in 2015. After graduation, I stepped away from the professional world to raise my three sons — an experience that deepened my understanding of patience, presence, and the importance of nurturing connection.
Motherhood, immigration, and my own healing journey have shaped how I see therapy: as intentional, sustained tending — a process that unfolds gradually and with care.

Beginning therapy is a meaningful step, and it often comes with a mix of hesitation and hope. My goal is to help you feel supported, understood, and respected from the very beginning.
Our work together starts with understanding your patterns — how you respond to stress, what triggers overthinking or emotional overwhelm, and why certain experiences may feel difficult to move past. As this awareness develops, many people begin to shift from reacting automatically to responding with greater intention.
A space for insight and growth.
HOW IT WORKS
In the early stages of therapy, many clients begin to notice:
Greater emotional and cognitive clarity
A steadier sense of calm
Less emotional reactivity
Greater confidence in decision-making
A stronger sense of self
Over time, these shifts often deepen. Anxiety may feel less dominant, and difficult or traumatic experiences can be processed in ways that reduce their intensity and impact. Patterns of overthinking or emotional overwhelm become easier to recognize and manage. Many clients find they recover more quickly from challenges and feel more aligned with their values and sense of direction.
Greater awareness opens the door to new choices, and with practice, meaningful change becomes possible.
WHAT I OFFER
Specialized care for meaningful progress.
Every service is grounded in research-backed methods.
For anxiety, trauma, and depression rooted in past experiences. EMDR helps your nervous system process what talk therapy alone can't always reach.
Using the Gottman Method — one of the most research-backed approaches in couples therapy — we’ll work to break patterns that lead to conflict and disconnection and develop more effective ways of communicating and relating to one another, with greater understanding, support, and care.
COUPLES THERAPY IS A PRIVATE PAY SERVICE.
For anxiety, depression, and life transitions. A consistent, unhurried space to understand what's happening and find your way through it.

Common questions about therapy
-
Individual sessions are 53 minutes. Couples and family sessions are 60 minutes. These lengths are designed to give enough time to explore what matters most in each session while keeping the space focused and intentional.
-
Yes. All sessions are conducted securely online. Telehealth allows you to engage in therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own space, whether you’re in New York, Florida, or Connecticut.
-
Most clients begin with weekly sessions, though every journey is unique. Some choose biweekly sessions as life and circumstances allow. We work together to find a rhythm that feels sustainable and supportive for your growth.
-
A brief consultation allows us to discuss your concerns and what you’re looking for in therapy, so you can make an informed decision about whether my approach is the right fit for you.
-
In Florida, I offer private pay sessions only.
In New York and Connecticut, I am in-network with the following insurance providers:
Aetna
Empire Blue Cross Blue
Cigna
Shield
Optum
Oscar Health
Oxford
UnitedHealthcare (UHC | UBH)
Please note that I do not currently accept Medicaid or Medicare coverage.
I accept clients claiming on their out-of-network benefits. If you’d like to use OON benefits, you can contact your insurance provider to see whether they cover a portion of your session. I can provide a superbill — an itemized receipt — after each session for potential reimbursement. Key questions to ask your provider include:
Does my plan cover out-of-network mental health services?
What is my deductible, and how much of it has been met?
What percentage of the session fee will be reimbursed after the deductible is met?
Is there a limit to how many sessions are covered?
Are there specific forms I need to submit for reimbursement?
While insurance can help with cost, private-pay therapy allows for greater flexibility, deeper focus, and a more personalized experience. Without the constraints of insurance limitations, we can fully focus on your growth, set the pace that feels right for you, and create a space that prioritizes your goals rather than administrative requirements.
If you have any questions or would like guidance navigating your benefits, I’m happy to assist.
-
Couples therapy is offered as a private pay service and is not billed through insurance in my practice. This allows the work to remain focused on the relationship as a whole, without the constraints or requirements of insurance.
-
The first session is a space to be heard, to explore what’s bringing you to therapy, and to begin clarifying your goals. From there, we shape the work together in a way that is reflective, collaborative, and responsive to your needs.
-
Not at all. Therapy is for anyone who wants to understand themselves more fully, navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity, or simply feel more grounded and intentional in how they live and relate.
-
Absolutely. Many clients begin without knowing exactly what they need, and that’s okay. The work often becomes clearer as we explore your patterns, values, and what feels most pressing or meaningful to address first.
-
Individual Sessions (53 minutes) are $150.
Couples Sessions (60 minutes) are $175.
-
Appointments must be canceled or rescheduled at least 48 hours in advance. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice, as well as missed sessions (no-shows), will incur a $100 fee.
I understand that unexpected situations and emergencies can arise, and I aim to be flexible when possible. If a session is rescheduled within the same week, the cancellation fee may be waived.
Consistent attendance is important for progress. In cases of frequent cancellations or missed sessions, we may revisit scheduling to ensure therapy remains beneficial.
Consecutive missed sessions may lead to a discussion about continuing therapy (after three missed sessions for weekly appointments and two for bi-weekly).
